Cover image

The wide band at the top of your board and roadmap. Upload a JPEG, PNG or WebP up to 4 MB. Recommended size: 2400 × 400 px (6:1). The app cuts the image to the band, so keep the important content in the middle. Phones get their own crop of 1200 × 200 px from the same image.

Cover pattern

Shown while there is no cover image. You can choose Waves, Dots, Stripes, Bokeh or Grid.

App symbol (square logo)

A square image: JPEG, PNG or WebP, at least 200 × 200 px, up to 2 MB. The app saves it as a 256 × 256 px PNG and fits the whole image into the square without cropping. Transparent areas stay transparent. SVG files are not accepted.

It is used as the profile picture on public profiles, on the printable poster, and as the browser tab icon when you have no tab icon of your own. Without a symbol, boards on Starter and above show the initials of the board name; Free boards keep the Votepit mark.

Wide logo (top bar)

A wide logo for the top bar: JPEG, PNG or WebP, at least 200 px on each side, up to 2 MB. The app saves it as a 1200 × 300 px PNG, fits it into the box without cropping and keeps transparency.

If the logo would be hard to see on your top bar colour (contrast below 3:1), the app puts a light plate behind it automatically. Without a wide logo, the top bar shows the app symbol or the board initials.

A light version of the wide logo (optional, same size and format rules) is used on dark top bars. If the bar is dark enough for it (contrast at least 3:1), the app picks it automatically; otherwise the normal wide logo is used. Like the wide logo, it is included from the Starter plan.

Browser tab icon

Saved as a 64 × 64 px PNG. A non-square image is cut to a centred square. Up to 4 MB. Without a tab icon, the app symbol is used.

Share preview image

Shown when someone shares a link to your board. Saved as a 1200 × 630 px JPEG and cut to the centre. Up to 4 MB.

Colours

The main colour is used for buttons and highlights. The second colour (Starter and above) is used for the top bar. Button text is white, so both colours must be dark enough for it to be readable. If a colour is too light, the editor suggests a darker shade that you can apply with one click. Nothing changes on its own, and saving is refused while a colour is too light for the button text.

Where a colour is used for text or as a marker on a page, the app adjusts its lightness so that it stays readable.

Where your images appear

• Top bar on board, roadmap, idea and profile pages: wide logo, app symbol or initials.
• Cover band on the board and roadmap pages: your cover image, or the cover pattern.
• Public profile pages: app symbol or initials.
• Browser tab: tab icon, or app symbol.
• Link previews when your board is shared: share image.
• Printable poster: app symbol.

Plans

The logo and the second colour are included from the Starter plan (see the pricing page). Other image options depend on your plan; the settings show what your plan includes.

Before you upload

Images smaller than 200 px on a side or larger than 6000 px on a side are refused. The app saves every image again, which removes hidden extra data such as photo location details. The first time you upload an image, you confirm the terms for your own images once for your account.
